Canada US Tension Escalates as PM Carney Denounces Trump

OTTAWA – Canada US tension has intensified sharply after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney accused President Donald Trump of betraying his country and wrecking the global economy.

Speaking to an energized crowd in Ottawa on Monday, Carney declared that the long-established friendship between Canada and the US was over. “President Trump has betrayed Canada. He has ended our historic alliance,” Carney said during his victory speech.

Carney, who led the Liberal Party to another term in government, warned Canadians of difficult days ahead, citing Trump’s escalating trade war and shocking threats of annexing Canada as America’s 51st state.

The Canada US tension was further inflamed when Trump, in a recent interview with Time magazine, reiterated that he was serious about absorbing Canada into the United States. Carney, however, urged Canadians not to be intimidated, vowing to guide the country through these turbulent times.

“We have passed the initial shock, but we must always remember this betrayal,” Carney emphasized. He promised that Canada would not only withstand the trade battle but also emerge stronger, building the most robust economy among G7 nations.

Despite securing government leadership, Carney’s Liberals are expected to collaborate with smaller parties in Parliament to secure legislation, analysts said.

Meanwhile, Trump’s remarks accusing Canada of economic dependence on the US have stirred further outrage, pushing Canada US tension to a level unseen in decades.

Observers believe that the evolving rift could permanently alter North American alliances and trade relations if not resolved soon.
