PLN Nusantara Power UP Tenayan Wins Gold at CESA Award 2025 for Innovative Earthworm Cultivation Program

Pekanbaru – PLN Nusantara Power Unit Pembangkitan (UP) Tenayan has been awarded the Gold title at the 2025 Circular Economy Sustainability Award (CESA) in Jakarta, thanks to its flagship initiative, “Muda Jaya Organik,” which successfully integrates innovation, waste management, and community empowerment.

The CSR program transforms organic waste from the surrounding areas — such as tofu by-products and palm oil residues — into both a medium and feed for earthworm cultivation. This process produces vermicompost, a high-quality organic fertilizer, as well as marketable earthworms used as animal feed.

Khoirul Huda, Manager of PLN Nusantara Power UP Tenayan, expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition, stating that the award reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability not only in energy generation but also in environmental stewardship and social development.

Organized by the CFCD Corporate Forum for CSR Development, the CESA Award is the first national platform dedicated to recognizing companies and organizations that have effectively implemented circular economy principles with tangible, impactful results. In the “Input Resources” category, PLN NP UP Tenayan earned the top Gold position, outperforming dozens of initiatives from across Indonesia.

The program has also generated new business opportunities and employment for local residents, contributing to environmental preservation while boosting community self-reliance.

Looking ahead, PLN Nusantara Power UP Tenayan aims to replicate and expand the reach of Muda Jaya Organik to other operational areas. The company envisions becoming a pioneer in building an energy ecosystem that is not only reliable and clean but also equitable and sustainable through community collaboration.
