BSI International Expo 2025 to Showcase Strategic Growth in Indonesia’s Halal Ecosystem

JAKARTA – PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) is set to host the BSI International Expo 2025 from June 26–29 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), aiming to catalyze Indonesia’s growing halal lifestyle economy. The event will serve as a strategic hub, connecting over 200 industry-leading tenants across fashion, cosmetics, and MSMEs in a hybrid B2B and B2C format.

With this year’s theme, “Engaging Indonesia in the Global Halal Industry,” the expo reflects BSI’s commitment to positioning Indonesia as a central player in the global halal value chain. The event will also mark a continuation of last year’s success, where the platform effectively connected local MSMEs with international buyers and stakeholders.

BSI Corporate Secretary Wisnu Sunandar stated that the Expo is part of the bank’s broader strategy to accelerate the development of a robust halal ecosystem in Indonesia. “This is more than just a trade show—it’s a strategic platform for cross-industry collaboration, capacity building, and global market access,” he explained.

Participants will include 90 notable fashion brands such as Button Scarves, Vivi Zubedi, Wearing Klamby, Zaskia Mecca, Vanilla Hijab, and more. A special segment will feature fashion shows in partnership with the Indonesia Fashion Chamber and several public figures. Halal cosmetic producers and the Glamlocal community—comprising over 6,000 local fashion resellers—will also be prominently represented.

Indonesia’s demographic strength—where approximately 87% of the population adheres to Islam—makes the country an attractive market for halal-focused industries. In 2024, Muslim fashion spending reached approximately IDR 290 trillion, yet financing from BSI in this segment remains modest, around IDR 10 trillion, indicating substantial untapped potential.

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry projects that halal fashion will become the second-most consumed halal sector domestically by 2025, with total halal industry consumption expected to reach US$330.5 million. The BSI International Expo aligns with these projections by fostering scalable, high-impact industry engagements.

“Muslim fashion is increasingly gaining traction among Indonesia’s upper-middle segment, signaling the market’s rapid evolution,” said Wisnu. “Through this Expo, we aim to elevate MSMEs to become globally competitive players in the halal economy.”

The Expo is part of BSI’s long-term commitment to creating sustainable industry pathways and empowering Indonesia’s halal economy to transition from local relevance to global significance.
